Therapy Dog Teams volunteer in a wide variety of areas (assisted living, hospitals, reading programs, etc.) and share the joy of interacting with your dog.

Our Therapy Dog Prep class teaches what a Therapy Dog Team is and how to become a Therapy Dog Team with the skills needed to pass the Therapy Dog International (TDI) evaluation (and other therapy dog organizations).

Our class includes:

Learning about different therapy dog organizations, how to decide if your dog would be a good therapy dog, and how to decide where to volunteer with your dog
Training your dog to politely greet people using assistance devices (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes).
Improving confidence and focus around distractions such as food and noise as we practice skills needed for the new AKC Temperament Test (ATT).
Taking the CGC/CGCA/CGCU tests during our last class.

Therapy Dogs International (TDI®) is a volunteer organization dedicated to regulating, testing, and registering of
therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers to visit nursing homes, hospitals, other institutions and
wherever else therapy dogs are needed.

Therapy Dogs International

Pet Partner Volunteers in the Therapy Animal Program interact with a wide variety of clients, including veterans with PTSD, seniors living with Alzheimer’s, students with literacy challenges, patients in recovery, people with intellectual disabilities, and those approaching end of life.
